How to use official chart corrections (PDF)

Transas delivers official ENC data in SENC format as per the IHO amendment to paragraph 3.3 of S-52 and a new Technical Resolution A3.11 adopted at IHO's 16th International Hydrographic Conference. The Transas SENC data has passed assessment by the  DNV and IC-ENC. The SENC collections include ENC data from PRIMAR, IC-ENC and NOAA and are distributed on the CD or via this web site.

PRIMAR is a worldwide ENC service, operated by the Norwegian Hydrographic Service (NHS) on a non-profit basis. The PRIMAR Regional ENC Coordinating Centre (RENC) is operated in accordance with the Worldwide Electronic Navigational Chart Database (WEND) principles of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO). The core aim of PRIMAR is to enhance safety at sea and protect the maritime environment. ENCs from PRIMAR meet IMO SOLAS charts and carriage requirements when kept up-to-date and used on type approved ECDIS with appropriate backup. PRIMAR ENC Service is delivered via an international network of authorized distributors.

IC-ENC is a co-operative venture of HO's to facilitate marketing of their ENC products. IC-ENC is modelled around the concept of an ENC Coordination Centre (RENC) as envisaged by the IHO's Worldwide ENC Database (WEND) model. At present the IC-ENC includes ENCs from from Argentina, Australia, Bahrein, Belgium, Chile, Germany, Greece, Iceland, the Netherlands, Mexico, Pakistan, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, Venezuela and the United Kingdom.

This is a chart library that contains all the new data not included in "Issue Week 23 WF40"CD " new charts, new editions of charts and updated charts.

The library has been packed as multivolume self-extracting archive. You need to run the archive and extract the charts before load them to Chart Manager.

How to use the official chart corrections

These files contain the latest corrections for official electronic navigational charts distributed by Transas. The corrections are applicable only to the charts contained on CD-ROM marked "Issue Week 23 WF40". A list of all the changes as compared to contents of "Issue Week 23 WF40" CD can be found here.

Updates_week34_2008.xls

Transas SENC chart corrections are shipped as a SENC Update Issue in the Transas SENC format. The SENC Update issue is a set of already updated charts packed in a Update34_WF40.clb library. The files are packed to self-extracting archive so you need to run archives before using of the library.

When SENC Update Issue extraction is complete, a SENC library named Update34_WF40.clb is created in the current directory. This library contains charts already updated, so you do not need to apply S-57 corrections to update your SENC collection.  The use of the SENC Update Issue will save time necessary for installing chart corrections.

Installation of chart corrections

The downloaded SENC data can be installed by means of  "Chart Manager" utility

1. Run Chart Manager and select "SENC" option (View->Format->SENC or click "Format" button and choose "SENC").

2. To install chart corrections shipped in SENC Update Issue, click on a "Scan Disc" button and specify the path to the directory where you have saved the file "Update34_WF40.clb". The licensed charts will be automatically selected; click on "Install" button to install updated charts.

Installation of New Charts

1. Before installing new charts you need to update your license, i.e. install new chart permits.

2. For installing new charts you can use the single Update34_WF40.clb file.
